My mum ❤️ her lifelong, selfless dedication to her kids inspires me to be the best mother I can be to my own daughter.


What’s your international women’s day message? 

It’s easy to feel like you need to do it all and excel at everything all at once. Try and find balance, ask for and take up offered help and most importantly do something just for you, even if it’s five minutes, every single day!

What do you love most about owning your own business?

 

I have been in business since I was 21, I have loved watching my young customers grow up and now having their own children, creating their own memories, all while enjoying our food.  The friendships I have made are priceless. It’s the people which make what I do such a passion. This is what I truly love about my business.

Share with us a woman that inspires you and why?

I can’t just pick one! My mother and sister are both incredible women. We fuel each other and they encourage me to believe in myself, particularly when I lose sight of my own value. My mum just started modelling in her 50’s and has already booked campaigns which is super inspiring and cool.I also read Cicely Tyson’s memoir and fell in love with her life and soul. Her untraditional trajectory made me feel inspired to continue on my own unique path and not obsess over 1. Achieving everything in my twenties and 2. following the road that society lays out for women.


What’s your international Women’s day message?

There is such magic in womanhood. I am so grateful to exist in it and experience its power. It’s a feeling that can’t really be explained. I guess my message to women is: Don’t forget you are magic.

What do you love most about working with women at Cartier?

My direct team are all women and all boss women at that! We lift each other up and want to see each other succeed, not only just individually but as a team, and not just in a work environment but also in our personal lives. I always love reflecting on the events and campaigns we pull off together - the girls always keep me inspired for the next big project!

What do you love most about owning your own business?

The fact that it is forever evolving. I am not one to stay stagnant and my work is a big reflection of that. Running my own business allows me freedom and the ability to be continuously challenged and produce better tomorrow than I did yesterday.

Each and every women on our team brings something different to the table and we always focus on developing each other's strengths. I love how we listen, support and cheer each other on. It’s so motivating!

A women who inspired me..my mum. A women of integrity, love and honesty. Always learning and exploring with the eagerness and enthusiasm of a child at Christmas time. Her energy, her determination to perfect the next project inspires me and her excitement for living every moment inspires me everyday. 

A young woman who inspires me, my daughter. A women with a fierce determination with only love and the highest integrity in her heart. Lucy creates a beautiful loving space, learning, teaching and evolving, always nurturing and growing. She inspires me every day.

I have so many strong, hard working and intelligent women in my life. I often draw inspiration from them - my friends and family. I’m also inspired by Maya Angelou and her powerful words.



What do you love most about running your own business?

I often pinch myself that I get to run my dream business each and everyday. I hope I can inspire younger women to strive to be their own boss one day. I also recognise and hope that women of colour can see another black woman in a creative field and be inspired. I love having a brand that is an extension of myself, my values, dreams and core beliefs, it’s incredibly special.



What’s your international Women’s day message?

Remembering that women don’t have to be just ‘one’ thing.. we are many things. We have infinite abilities and traits that make us unstoppable.
